With its glitter and glam and occasional celebrity, Aspen is the obvious star, but Snowmass Village, its mellower family-friendly neighbor 15 minutes away can certainly stand up on its own against any ski resort in the country. Read our recommendations for a fabulous stay in Snowmass Village.
STAY
Limelight Hotel Snowmass: In the heart of Snowmass Base Village and steps from the gondola, this is a great option for those who want to be in the heart of the Snowmass action.
Viewline Resort:A true ski-in/ski-out hotel set at the top of Fanny Hill ski lift and at the end of the Snowmass Mall, this is a great option if you want to pack in as many runs as possible. The free “skittles” gondola will also take you to Base Village as well.
EAT
Il Poggio: Italian restaurant on Snowmass Mall with great food in a somewhat dated decor.
Taster’s Pizza: Great option for pizza/subs and they deliver.
Venga Venga: Mexican restaurant right on the ski hill at the end of the Snowmass Mall. Good apres-ski scene in winter.
Kenichi-Tasty sushi in the base village.
WHAT TO DO IN WINTER
Ice Skate: Free ice skating at the base village is open all winter (weather permitting).
ON-MOUNTAIN
Favorite Restaurant: Sam’s for a nicer sit-down lunch, where they even provide slippers for you to take off those ski boots.
Favorite Run: Sheer Bliss is a classic Snowmass run for intermediate and above skiers. On a powder day, Long Shot is worth the short hike to the top of the run.
Favorite Place to Après: Lynn Britt Cabin on a sunny day is a great place to finish your day.
WHAT TO DO IN SUMMER
Favorite Hike: Vista Trail can take you to the top of the Elk Camp Gondola. If your legs are feeling strong enough, keep going to the top for incredible views.
Runner-up Hike: South Rim trail to Spiral Point is always a crowd favorite and relatively easy.
Best Hike for Kids: Divide trail is a flat out-and-back trail with a small stream and great views.
Thursday Night Concerts: These free concerts every Thursday take place on Fanny Hill and are good for the entire family.
Snowmass Rodeo: Every Wednesday in the summer, the Snowmass Rodeo is a great way to enjoy your weekly dose of Western Americana.
