Provence France: One Perfect Week with Kids

Looking for a relaxing (that’s obviously relative if traveling with kids) trip to Provence, France. Follow along for a guide to one perfect week in this idyllic region.

FIRST STOP: PARIS

It’s always a good time to visit Paris, and if you’re planning a trip to Provence, this is the obvious place to start.

STAY

Hotel Madame Reve in the 2nd Arrondissement is walking distance to all of the main sights of Paris. There are also great parks and restaurants nearby.

ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS

  • The parks here are all incredible. Some of our favorites for kids are the Palais Royal Gardens and the The Parc André Citroën.

  • Ride a carousel. Carousels can be found throughout Paris and are such a great way to make kids and their parents happy.

  • Take a boat ride on the Seine. Bateaux Rouge seems to have the most frequent trips and it’s easy to buy tickets the day of your trip.

Palais Royal Gardens

Colonnes de Buren in Palais Royal Gardens are always fun for kids and adults.

STOP TWO: HOTEL CRILLON LE BRAVE

Getting here: We recommend taking the quick and super-convenient train from Paris to Avignon. From there we rented a car to travel around Provence. Our first stop was Hotel Crillon Le Brave, set in a charming historic hotel in the foothills of Mount Ventoux that has been converted to a 5-star hotel.

STOP 3: AIRELLES, LA BASTIDE DE GORDES

Our third and final stop was to Airelles,La Bastide De Gordes, set in the picturesque (if slightly touristy) town of Gordes. The service here was impeccable and it was clear the staff was focused on the little details just as much as the big.

KID’S CLUB/ACTIVITIES

The amazing service at this hotel isn’t reserved just for adults. They go out of their way to make kids feel like they are on vacation. From a stuffed animal upon arrival, to special kids menus, to a kid’s summer camp, and game room, this place is incredible for kids of all ages.
