Top 5: Favorite Things to Make Traveling with Kids Easier

I love taking my kids all over the world. I love experiencing new places and new cultures with them. I love hearing them talk about the places we’ve visited. What I don’t love is the actual travel. The flights, the trains, the long car rides. Here are our top 5 favorite things that have made the worst parts of traveling a little bit easier.

Veer Wagon

ONE

This Veer Wagon is pricey, but in our opinion one of the best travel tools for traveling with kids. We’ve taken this everywhere, from the store down the street to cities across the world. It has super durable tires that allow it to easily go on grass, sand, rocks, etc. It saved us from so much whining on a trip to Mallorca a few years ago when it easily transported 4 kids and groceries up a steep hill multiple times a day. You can also attach a car seat with the optional attachment and wheel this right up to the door of your plane. From there you can collapse it and gate check it.

Scooter Suitcases

TWO

For slightly older kids, these scooter suitcases are one of the best inventions we’ve seen for traveling with kids. Since we bought these for our girls, our whining in airports (both theirs and mine) has decreased dramatically, since they actually want to ride them. They fold down and fit in the overhead compartments. These are game-changers.

THREE

Amazon Fire

These are obvious, but the Amazon Fire devices sure do make things easier when traveling with kids. We try to save these for only trips so that they’re extra excited to use them—hopefully for hours during a long travel day.

FOUR

Inflatable Footrests/Beds

Inflatable Footrests/Beds

We bring these inflatable footrests on all overnight flights with the girls. You essentially blow them up and it fills the space between the seat of the plane and the back of the chair in front of you creating a toddler bed. Even if they’re not sleeping it’s nice for them to have a place for their feet that doesn’t involve kicking the person in front of them.

FIVE

Travel Pillow

Travel Pillow

Our kids love these travel pillows for the car or the plane. They’re cute enough that they get excited bringing them places, but they also connect in the front to allow for lots of support for tiny necks.
